Medina grappler goes 2-2 at state meet

Medina’s Colby Petrie (126) went 2-2 at the Division 2 (small schools) state wrestling championships being held this weekend at Albany.

In the competition which began on Friday and concludes today, Petrie opened with a pin of 3:55 over Cris D’Amelio from Irvington but then lost by an 8-1 decision in the quarterfinals to top seeded Chandler Merwin from Walton-Delaware Valley.

Rebounding, Petrie posted a 4-1 win in the consolation competition over Willy Kraus from Hampton Bays but was then eliminated by a narrow 3-2 margin by Dean Shambo from Mexico.

Lyndonville’s Mario Fidanza (220) went 0-2 on the weekend.
