Medina grad sets Pfeiffer scoring record
Medina High graduate and Pfeiffer College senior Blade Garlow broke the school’s single season lacrosse goal scoring record this week.
Garlow scored a career tying nine goals in a 23-13 win over Brevard to set a new Pfeiffer season record of 67 goals breaking the old mark of 62. Garlow scored the record setter early in the second period and finished the first half with six goals helping Pfeiffer build up an 11-4 lead.
Less than two weeks ago Garlow broke the 100 goal career mark when he netted five goals in Pfeiffer’s narrow 14-13 win over Ferrum.
Garlow now has career totals of 118 goals and 66 assists.
Pfeiffer is now 10-3 on the season.
Kneeland is Pitcher of the Week
Newfane High grad and Cedarville College senior Josh Kneeland has been named Great Midwest Conference South Division Pitcher of the Week.
He earned the honoring after registering 15 strikeouts in Cedarville’s win over Alderson Broaddus. He allowed only two hits over 8 2/3 innings. The 15 strikeouts is the second most in conference history.
Kneeland, who has made nine starts this season and has pitched 49 innings is averaging over a strikeout per inning. Opposing batters are hitting just .251 against him.
Lang sharp on links for NCCC
Roy-Hart grad Hogan Lang is enjoying a fine freshman season for the Niagara County Community College golf team.
He finished in a tie for first place at the Cayuga CC Invitational this past weekend shooting 78 in his first collegiate tournament helping NCCC to the win. He lost on a match of cards tie breaker.
He followed up by shooting 83 at the Onondaga Invitationals on Saturday where NCCC also won, and an 83 at the Tompkins-Cortland CC Invitational on Sunday where NCCC finished third.
