Medina grad leads GW harriers to historic win

Medina High graduate John-Louis Pane finished in first place Saturday to lead the George Washington University men’s cross country team to a victory at the Seahawk Invitational Saturday at Saint Mary’s City, Maryland, the team’s first victory in over a decade.

The Colonials had three harriers finish in the top four led by Pane’s first career victory. A senior, Pane covered the 8,000 meter course in 27:22.30 to best 75 other competitors.

GW totaled 26 points in earning the victory and was followed by host Saint Mary’s College of Maryland in second place with 73 points. Catholic finished in third place with 98 points followed by Howard (101), Mary Washington (111), Southern Virginia (128), Hood (201) and Southern Maryland (NTS).
