Making his first collegiate start at quarterback, Medina High graduate Jason Hellwig helped lead SUNY Brockport to a 28-7 victory at St. Lawrence this afternoon as the Empire 8 Conference champion Eagles finish the regular season at 10-0.

Hellwig ran 26 yards for one touchdown and caught a 14 yard pass for another score off a double reverse play, both in the second quarter, to help Brockport build up a 21-0 lead.

Hellwig, who holds the Medina career record for touchdown passes with 45, completed 14 passes for 132 yards on the day.

A sophomore at Brockport, Hellwig is majoring in Sports Management with a minor in Coaching.

The Brockport roster also includes another Medina grad, Jake Cotriss who is a senior defensive back.
