Medina golfers clinch tie for N-O title

Staying perfect at 11-0, Medina defeated Barker 238-272 this afternoon to clinch at least a tie for the Niagara-Orleans League golf championship.

Aidan Paul shot 41, Trevor Luthart 45, Jake Bensley 47 and Toby Kiebala 49 for Medina.

Jake Harris took medalist honors with a 40 for Barker which is now 1-9.

Medina closes out the N-O season with a key match at runner-up Albion on Tuesday.

Albion stayed in the title hunt by downing Akron 226-244 to improve to 9-1.

Nick Penna took medalist honors for Albion with a 38 as Patrick Ricker and Victor Benjovsky both shot 43 and Nick Perry 49.

Stephen Wagner had a 46 for Akron which is now 5-4-2.

Wilson defeated Roy-Hart 238-268 in the other match as Nate Fox took medalist honors with a 41 and Patrick Seeley added a 42.

Murphy Lang and Madigan Lang both shot 43 for Roy-Hart.

Wilson is now 5-3-2 and Roy-Hart 1-8-1.

Girls Volleyball
Medina 21-25-25-25, Newfane 25-15-23-16
Medina rebounded from an opening set loss to defeat host Newfane 21-25, 25-15, 25-23, 25-16 this evening in an N-O volleyball match.

Grace Masse had an ace for the final point in the third set for the Mustangs as Divere Brown polished off the match winning point in the final set.

Je’ne Brown had 14 kills for the Mustangs as Elle Gross had 6 and Maddie Williams 4.  Masse and Gross both had 4 aces and Faith Henning and Leah Sheelar 2 each.

Medina is now 3-2 and Newfane 1-4.

Roy-Hart 30-22-20-25-29, Wilson 28-25-25-10-27

Roy-Hart (3-2) outlasted Wilson (3-2) in a five set marathon as Aspen Moore had 22 kills and 5 blocks, Olivia Vorholtzer 10 kills and 2 aces, Skyler Christopher 10 kills and 6 aces, Jessi Wood 7 kills and 4 aces and Allison Dudek 10 straight service points in the fourth set.

Boys Volleyball

Midlakes 25-25-25, Lyndonville/Medina 16-14-15

Lyndonville/Medina dropped a straight set 25-16, 25-14, 25-15 decision at Midlakes in a boys volleyball match Thursday.

Christian Hahn had 6 kills for Lyndonville/Medina as Chris Goyette and Mason Pecoraro both added 2.
