Medina golfers best CSAT

Improving to 4-3-1, Medina defeated host CSAT (0-8) 245-286 this afternoon to open the second half of the Niagara-Orleans League golf season.

Freshman Michael Cardone took medalist honors with a 41 and junior Gage Masters shot a 44 to lead the way for Medina.

Underclassmen in fact dominate the lineup for new Mustangs coach PJ Bell.

The Medina lineup also includes seniors Ian McAnn and Nathan Pace; junior Sam Busch; sophomores Bradley McPherson, Hunter Sturtevant and Jared Zinkievich; freshmen Kevin Capstick, and Andrew Fuller and eighth graders Jacob Kuhlmann, Jacob Bensley and Connor Miller.

Newfane 226, Albion 254
The trio of Paul Tilyou, Josh Gmerek and Connor Duncan each shot 44 to lead Newfane (5-3) to a 226-254 victory over Albion (3-5).

Albion’s John Krieger took medalist honors with a 42.

Akron 256, Roy-Hart 259
Noah Diebel earned medalist honors with a 46 to lead Akron (5-2-1) to a narrow 256-259 victory over Roy-Hart (1-6-1).

Barker 217, Wilson 229
Front-running Barker stayed unbeaten at 7-0-1 with a 217-229 victory over Wilson which slips to 5-3.

Mitch Luckman took medalist honors with a 37 for Barker as Alonzo St. Louis shot 40 and Brad Wilson 41.

Connor Seeley shot a 41 for Wilson.
