Medina girls X-C team scores two wins

Medina swept to a doubleheader victory over visiting Barker (26-31) and Wilson (25-30) this afternoon to improve to 2-2 in Niagara-Orleans League girls cross-country competition.

Barker (1-5) downed Wilson (0-4) in the other portion of the meet 26-31.

Medina was sparked by the 1-2 finish of Sabrina Quiros and Hannah Heil as Barker’s Gabby Baker placed third.

The defending champion boys squad improved to 6-0 by defeating Medina 22-39 and Wilson 24-34. Wilson (3-1) downed Medina (0-4) in the other portion of the meet.

Medina’s Dan Heil won the race as Wilson’s Will Schwarznueller took second and Barker’s Drew Jenks third.

The Newfane girls stayed unbeaten at 4-0 by downing Akron 17-46 as Kim Goerss won the race.

Newfane also bested Akron in the boys race 26-31 to regain the .500 mark at 2-2.

Mike Swinarski won the race for Akron which is also at 2-2.
