Snapping a six game losing streak, Medina trimmed Newfane 9-8 in a Niagara-Orleans League softball game this afternoon at Vets Park.

Medina built up as much as a 9-4 lead by scoring four times in the fourth inning, twice in both the first and fifth frames and once in the sixth.

Ki’Maini Poole and Rylee VanNostrand both had doubles and Alayna Smith a single in the fourth, Gianna Greco a double in the fifth and Regan Timmer an RBI bunt single in the sixth for what proved to be the game winning run.

Newfane though made the finish exciting by scoring four times in the top of the seventh to slice the deficit to just one at 9-8 as Jensen McGhee had a double and Kendal Knealing a triple.

The Lady Panthers still had the bases loaded with two out but the Mustangs got out of the jam as Faith Oberther registered a clutch game ending strikeout.

Medina, which next visits Roy-Hart on Friday is now 2-6 and Newfane 1-6 in N-O action.
