Medina girls top Tapestry to halt skid

Snapping a nine game losing streak, Medina posted  62-35 victory over visiting Tapestry this evening in a non league girls basketball game.

Je’ne Brown and Maddie Williams both scored 18 and Camri King 13 to lead the Medina attack as Maleyah Brewer added 5 and Divere Brown, Sarah Cochrane, Shamaria Howard and Kharise Johnson 2 each.

Jayden Smith scored 18 and Destiny Purdue 12 to account for virtually all of Tapestry’s point production.

Medina jumped out to a 13-8 first period advantage, a lead the Mustangs never relinquished. Je’ne Brown scored 6, Williams 5 and King 2 to lead that surge.

The Mustangs maintained a seven point, 23-16, lead at the half and then broke the contest open with a big 22-11 third period scoring edge to extend the advantage to 18 at 45-27.

Je’ne Brown and Williams both had a three-point play and a layup and Brewer a three and a layup to spark that Mustangs uprising.

Keeping the momentum, the Mustangs opened the final period with a 10-5 run to stretch the lead to 23 at 55-32.

Medina next hosts rival Albion at 6:30 p.m. Friday in a Niagara-Orleans League game.
