Medina girls top Albion avenging earlier loss

Avenging an early season two point (44-42) loss, Medina downed visiting rival Albion 43-23 in a Niagara-Orleans League game this evening.

Rylee VanNostrand poured in 35 points to lead the way for Medina. She scored 6 of Medina’s 8 first quarter points, all 11 in the second period, 8 of 10 in the third and 8 of 10 in the fourth.

The Mustangs led 10-8 after the first period, 23-10 at the half and 33-14 at the three-quarter mark.

Honesty Hill added 6 and Stella Poler 2 for Medina.

Madison Hughson led Albion with 13 as Skoi Sanders Smith had 3 and Anna Zaczek and Paige Newton 2 each.

In the other N-O games, Wilson defeated Roy-Hart 39-21 and Newfane downed Barker 36-23.

Anna Chunco scored 14 and Mallory Schultz 11 to lead Newfane and Rachel Sutter tallied 11 for Barker.

N-O Standings: Wilson 7-0, Akron 5-1, Albion 4-3, Newfane 3-4, Barker 2-5, Medina 2-5, Roy-Hart 1-6.
