Medina girls shutout rival Albion

Photos by Cheryl Wertman – Camri King belted a home run during Medina’s win over rival Albion at Vets Park this afternoon.

Breaking away from a close game, Medina used two big late inning scoring bursts to lock up a 15-0 victory over visiting rival Albion this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League softball contest at Vets Park.

Leading 3-0, Medina erupted for five runs in the fifth inning highlighted by a three-run double by Ashlee Howell.

Cora Payne picked up the win in the circle for the Mustangs.

The Mustangs then put a lock on the win by exploding for seven runs in the sixth frame as Brandi Guild and Lacey Kenward both had doubles and Morgan Allis a triple.

Earlier, Medina scored once in the first on a sacrifice fly by Kenward and twice in the third on a two-run home run by Camri King.

Howell finished with 5 hits as Guild and King both had 3.

Cora Payne picked up the win in the circle for the Mustangs allowing 2 hits and striking out 7.

Kendall Derisley had both of Albion’s hits.

Medina is now 1-0 and Albion 1-1 in N-O action.

The other two scheduled N-O games, Roy-Hart vs. Newfane and Barker vs. Akron were both postponed as was the Lyndonville at Elba Genesee Region League contest.

In a non league game, Kendall defeated Monroe 14-1.
