Medina girls shutout rival Albion
Breaking away from a close game, Medina used two big late inning scoring bursts to lock up a 15-0 victory over visiting rival Albion this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League softball contest at Vets Park.
Leading 3-0, Medina erupted for five runs in the fifth inning highlighted by a three-run double by Ashlee Howell.
The Mustangs then put a lock on the win by exploding for seven runs in the sixth frame as Brandi Guild and Lacey Kenward both had doubles and Morgan Allis a triple.
Earlier, Medina scored once in the first on a sacrifice fly by Kenward and twice in the third on a two-run home run by Camri King.
Howell finished with 5 hits as Guild and King both had 3.
Cora Payne picked up the win in the circle for the Mustangs allowing 2 hits and striking out 7.
Kendall Derisley had both of Albion’s hits.
Medina is now 1-0 and Albion 1-1 in N-O action.
The other two scheduled N-O games, Roy-Hart vs. Newfane and Barker vs. Akron were both postponed as was the Lyndonville at Elba Genesee Region League contest.
