Jumping out to a 3-0 half-time advantage, Medina went on to defeat JFK 5-0 this afternoon in the Section VI Class B playoff opener at Vets Park.

Medina grabbed a 1-0 lead 12 minutes into the game as Emilee Austin scored off an assist from Kayla Leno.

The Mustangs then broke the game open when Taylor Miller scored two quick goals late in the half, the first off an assist from Max Wright.

“We played solid defense and we stuck to the game plan,” Medina coach Mike Lepkyj said. “We did get off to a bit of a slow start but we played very well defensively and when you do that it helps to get the ball rolling.”

Miller completed her hat-trick with a goal three minutes into the second half on a direct kick and Wright rounded out the Mustangs goal production with a late tally.

Miller now has a team leading 14 goals on the season while Austin has 6 and Wright 2.
