Medina girls roll past R-H; Albion romps

Steadily pulling away, Medina rolled to a 57-29 victory over visiting Roy-Hart this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball game.

In other N-O action, Albion pulled away in the second half to down host Akron 55-30 and Wilson bested Barker 61-15..

Je’ne Brown scored a game high 25 points to lead the way for Medina as Maddie Williams added 10, Maddie Winters and Emily Kams 6, Kayla Cuadra 4 and Molley Gross and Hannah Sones 3. Brown also grabbed off 11 rebounds while Winters and Gross both had 10.

Delaney Draper led Roy-Hart with 9 as Skyler Christopher had 6, Ava Bligh 5, Ellie Todd 3, Maddie Fry and Alyssa Hess 2 and Meghan Washington and Lexie Lovewell 1.

Medina jumped out to a 9-0 lead at the outset as Brown tallied 6 quick points on a layup, a rebound and a fast break layup.

Up 13-7 at the end of the opening period, the Mustangs also got off to a fast start in the second quarter with an 8-0 run for a 14 point, 21-7, lead. Brown had two layups and Winters a rebound bucket during that stretch.

Brown, Kams and Williams each had a pair of buckets in the period which finished with the Mustangs up by 13, 28-15.

Medina then put a firm lock on the win by outscoring R-H 20-10 in the third period to stretch the advantage to 23, 48-25. Brown tallied 9 and Winters 4 in the stanza.

Medina is now 2-0 and Roy-Hart 0-3 in N-O action.

Albion 55, Akron 30
Leading by a narrow 27-21 mark at the half, Albion used a big 15-2 third period scoring surge to key a 55-30 victory over Akron.

Chanyce Powell scored 7 of her game high 18 points during that decisive run. She also had 11 rebounds and 8 steals on the evening.

Emily Blanchard added 15 points for the Purple Eagles which also got 9 rebounds each from Caitlynn Snook and Brylie Hapeman.

Wilson 61, Barker 15
Kayla Newumann scored 21 and Rachael Senek 18 to spark defending champion Wilson (4-0) to a 61-15 win over Barker (0-2).
