Staying in the thick of the battle to claim a one-third share of the league title, Medina blanked host Newfane 8-0 in a key Niagara-Orleans League softball game this morning.

Improving to 8-3, Medina moves to within a half game of first place with the victory which also dropped Newfane to 8-4 knocking the Lady Panthers out of title contention.

Roy-Hart and Akron, which finished their seasons Friday, have locked up co-championships at 9-3. Medina now needs a win at Barker in the N-O finale Monday to also finish at 9-3 and make it tri-champions.

Emily Kams hurled a 4 hitter with 7 strikeouts to lead Medina past Newfane.

Alisha Scroger, Morgan Allis, Lacey Kenward, Brandi Guild and Alyssa Beyer each banged out a pair of hits to lead the Mustangs at the plate.

Medina broke the game open by scoring 4 runs in the fourth inning highlighted by singles by Kenward, Kams and Scroger.
