Medina girls end victory drought

Snapping an eight game losing streak, Medina romped to a 46-22 victory over visiting Global Concepts Charter School this evening in a non league girls basketball game.

Freshmen Emily Kams scored 14 and Molley Gross 10 to lead the Medina attack. Senior Taylor Miller added 7, freshman Maddy Winters 5, juniors Emma Ambrose and Nicole Blount 4 and sophomore De’Andrea Salone 2 for the Mustangs. Gross also grabbed off 12 rebounds and Winters 10.

Taking command at the outset, Medina jumped out to a 13-4 first quarter lead. Gross netted eight points, including a rebound bucket and a three-point play, to lead that surge which also included baskets by Miller and Kams.

The Mustangs boosted the advantage to 19, 28-9 at the half as Kams led the way in the second period with eight points including a three-point play, a layup and a jumper.

Medina stretched the lead to 22, 26-14, at the three-quarter mark.

Medina next hosts Barker in a Niagara-Orleans League make-p game at 6:30 p.m. Monday.
