Medina girls down Albion; R-H nips Newfane

Avenging an earlier season road loss, Medina downed visiting Albion 60-35 in a Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball game this evening.

Iyla Lilleby scored a game high 27 and Alexa Demmer tallied 15 to lead Medina as Nevaeh Moss added 8, Angel Mulcahy and Ariel Smith 4 each and Honesty Hill 2.

Madison Hughson paced Albion with 17 as Julia Knight had 6, Daci Doward and Paige Newton 4 and Kenzi Snook and Alison Gibson 2.

Taking charge at the outset, Medina jumped out to a 20-4 first quarter lead. Lilleby scored 7 to lead a parade of six Mustang point getters during that surge.

The Mustangs went on to lead by margins of 35-18 at the half and 50-25 after three quarters. Lilleby scored 7 in both the second and third quarters while Demmer had 4 in the second and 5 in the third.

The game was halted by officials with 39 seconds to go after a fight broke out between players on the court following a scramble for a loose ball.

Medina is now 3-7 and Albion 5-6 in N-O action.

Roy-Hart 43, Newfane 42
Roy-Hart likewise avenged an earlier season road loss by nipping visiting Newfane 43-42.

Lila Brigham scored 12 to lead a balanced attack for Roy-Hart as Courtney Aquilina added 8, Adella Dukes 7, Millie Owens and Juliana Terwilliger 6 and Madison DiNieri 4.

Roy-Hart is now 4-6 and Newfane 6-5.

Wilson 47, Barker 13
Having already locked up outright possession of a sixth straight N-O championship, Wilson downed Barker 47-13 to improve to 11-0 in league action.
