Medina girls and Albion boys will open Section VI playoffs at home

The Medina girls and Albion boys will both open Section VI basketball playoff action with home games this coming week.

The No. 8 seed Medina girls will host No. 9 Allegany-Limestone in a Class B2 opener at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The winner will visit No. 1 Eden on Friday.

The No. 8 seed Albion boys will open Class B1 playoff action at 7 p.m. Thursday when the Purple Eagles host the winner of Tuesday’s contest between No. 16 Tonawanda and No. 9 City Honors. The winner will visit top seeded Lew-Port on Saturday.

The No. 17 seeded Medina boys squad will visit No. 16 Southwestern at noon on Monday. The winner will visit No. 9 Roy-Hart at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The No. 10 seeded Albion girls will visit No. 7 Iroquois at 7 p.m. Tuesday in a Class B1 opener.

The No. 12 seeded Roy-Hart girls will visit No. 5 Health Sciences in a Class B2 contest at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The winner will visit No. 4 Akron on Friday.

The No. 8 seeded Barker girls will host No. 9 Maple Grove in a Class D game at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The winner will visit No. 1 Panama on Thursday.

The No. 10 seeded Barker boys squad will visit No. 7 Pine Valley at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Also in the boys Class B2 bracket, No. 15 Akron will visit No. 10 Fredonia at 7 p.m. Tuesday while No. 3 seed Newfane draws a bye into Saturdays quarterfinals.

The No. 7 Wilson boys will open at home at 7 p.m. Thursday against the winner of Tuesday’s No. 10 Portville vs. No. 15 Buffalo Science contest.

In the girls Class B2 competition No. 6 Newfane will host No. 11 Salamanca at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

In the girls Class C bracket No. 3 seed Wilson will also open at home on Thursday against the winner of Tuesday’s No. 11 Gowanda vs. No. 6 Frewsburg contest.
