Medina field hockey has good nucleus
Ten returnees provide a good nucleus as the Medina field hockey team prepares for the upcoming Niagara-Orleans League season.
Looking to rebound from last year’s 1-11 N-O record, the Mustangs returning contingent includes seniors Bryhana Sikorski (Attack), Tea Cardone (Attack), Alaina Boyce (Defender), Sarah Granchelli (Attack) and Lillian Duffield (Defender) ; juniors Alexis Maines (Attack) and Grace Flores (Defender); sophomores Alissa Blount (Goalie) and Guin Schalck (Attack) and freshman Lacey Kenward (Attack).
“We’ve got a lot of returners and a lot of experience,” said Coach Amber Cleaveland. “And we’ve got some new kids who are nice additions.”
The Mustangs key losses to graduation include Stella Russo, who earned first team N-O All-League honors, Michaela Cardone, a second team N-O honoree and Hanna Lonnen, an Honorable Mention selection.
The Mustangs are scheduled to open the N-O season at home on September 1 against Newfane.
