With no returning starters on the roster, Medina faces a rebuilding task as the Mustangs prepare for the upcoming Niagara-Orleans League basketball season.

Senior Taylor Miller, along with juniors Nicole Blount and Emma Ambrose, who each saw limited action last year, anchor the Medina lineup.

“We’re really starting from scratch,” said Coach Ken Haak who lost three starters to graduation (Alba Perez, Abby Button and Olivia Hermann) while a fourth, Kendra Hill, transferred to Roy-Hart and a fifth, Tanisha Robinson, is not playing this year.

The Mustangs underclassmen dominated roster also includes freshmen Madeline Winters, Molley Gross, Emily Kams and Rowan Hamner along with sophomores Cassie Sargent and DeAndrea Salone, junior Brittany Button and senior Briann Dunn.

“We’re young but we’ve got a lot of athleticism,” said Haak. “With a group this young progress should be readily made. We’re looking to play intense and out hustle everyone.”

Medina is slated to open the season with non league games at Oakfield-Alabama on Dec. 3, at Pembroke on Dec. 5 and at Lyndonville on Dec. 7 before beginning N-O competition at home against CSAT on Dec. 13.

Medina went 9-5 in N-O action and 12-7 overall last year.
