Celebrating Senior Day and Homecoming in style, Medina posted a 3-1 victory over Roy-Hart at Vets Park this afternoon to snap a season long seven game Niagara-Orleans League field hockey losing streak.

Setting the tone for a big first half, Medina moved on top to stay when Dominique Hughes scored a lightning quick goal just 43 seconds into the game.

“That one boosted them right up. It showed them they could do it,” Medina coach Kristi Young said. “They all really played well and they played hard. They really pushed to score goals.”

The Mustangs increased the lead to 3-0 at the half on goals by Jayne Kuhn and Hughes, both off assists from Mallori Wienke.

Roy-Hart did cut the deficit to 3-1 early in the second half on a goal by Madison Dent but Medina goalie Hallie Seaman and her defensive mates, led by Kelsey Evoy and Lindsey Hill, shut the door the rest of the way to preserve the victory.

The loss drops Roy-Hart to 0-8.
