Enjoying a most successful debut season, Medina picked up an unusual win  this past weekend to earn both the regular season title and the top seed for the upcoming playoffs in Division 3 of the Buffalo District Soccer League.

Medina claimed the regular season Division 3 crown by virtue of a forfeit win over former front-runner Tesla which did not have enough players for the contest.

Medina finishes the regular season at 9-1-1 while Tesla winds up in a second place tie with Lasalle at 9-2. The NY Elite rounds out the top four teams at 8-3.

The top seed has also earned Medina a bye into a home semifinal game on August 5 which will be played at Lyndonville at 6:30 p.m. because of construction work around Vets Park.

“We knew we had potential to succeed in Division 3, but we were not confident about leading the division,” said  Barry Rogenmoser who is managing the Medina team along with Greg Husung. “We are really excited to carry this momentum into playoffs and make a statement in our inaugural season.”

Heading into the playoffs, Rogenmoser leads the Medina scoring with 9 goals as Steven Anderson has 8, Kristina Snyder 7, Brian Anderson 5 and Husung 4. Husung also has a tram leading 5 assists, Steven Anderson and Rogenmoser 3 and Brian Anderson and Snyder 2.
