Medina downs rival Albion in N-O volleyball

Snapping a three match losing streak, Medina downed rival Albion 25-12, 24-26, 25-15, 25-13 in a Niagara-Orleans League volleyball contest this evening at Albion.

Medina took the opening set as Kelsey Lemoi served up points 6-8 on three aces, Kylie Poynter 10-16 with 3 aces and Karlee Cau 21-25 with an ace for the set winner.

Albion pulled even with an overtime win in the second set as Zoe Marat had a long run of 8 straight service points (7-14) including four aces and Julia Knight registered a kill for the set winning point.

However, Medina regained the lead for good by taking the third set as Poynter served up points 8-11 with two aces, Lorelei Sanders 14-16 with an ace, Maddy Watts 18-20 with an ace and Poynter again with points 24 and 25.

Medina then closed out the win with a victory in the fourth set highlighted by a big 9 point run (6-14) by Ki’Mani Poole five of which were aces giving the Mustangs a 14-4 lead. Watts also scored points 21-23 giving the Mustangs a 23-12 lead.

Poole finished with 7 aces, Poynter 6 and Lemoi, Sanders and Watts 3 each for Medina while Marat led Albion with 6.

Medina is now 2-3 and Albion 0-5 in N-O action.

Roy-Hart bested Newfane in straight sets 25-11, 25-15, 25-10 as Raegan Kern had 6 kills and 4 aces, Emily Livergood 5 kills and a block and Ella Martillotta 14 assists.
