Medina Central School announces it will be closed on Thursday

Winter Storm Warning in effect until 1 p.m. Thursday

Medina Central School has announced it will be closed on Thursday with heavy snow in the forecast.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 10 tonight until 1 p.m. for Orleans County with 4 to 8 inches of snow expected.

A Winter Weather Advisory is then in effect from 1 p.m. Thursday until 4 p.m. on Friday, with another 1 to 3 inches of snow.

Winds gusting as high as 55 mph will result in blowing and drifting snow with greatly reduced visibility from Thursday morning through Friday, the Weather Service said.

A blizzard warning is in effect for parts of Western New York until 4 p.m. Friday when 1 to 2 feet of snow is expected for Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Allegany and southern Erie counties.
