Medina, Carlton share U12 lead at 4-0
Improving to 4-0, Medina scored a pair of low scoring wins in Orleans County Short Season Baseball League action this past week.
Medina first trimmed Sandstone 5-3 in a rain shortened game on Tuesday and then edged St. Mary’s/Barre by a nearly identical margin of 5-1 on Thursday.
Joe Reese had a double and Steve Gobeli two singles in the win over Sandstone as Hadrian Batista registered 8 strikeouts on the mound. Medina scored two runs in the third inning and then three in the fourth.
Aleks Seefeldt and Carlos Doval then combined for 15 strikeouts in Medina’s win over St. Mary’s/Barre. At the plate, Ryan Pegelow had a home run and Batista and Reese two hits each. Batista’s hits included a triple.
Carlton stayed even with Medina atop the division standings at 4-0 by downing Rotary 9-7 and Elba 6-5.
Rotary gained a split on the week by besting Sandstone 13-8.
Home runs by Noah Harrison and Kaiden Froman highlighted a big seven run second inning for Rotary which also got two hits on the evening from Wyatt Cook.
Elliott Trapiss, Brayden Ryder and Drew Pritchard each had two hits for Sandstone.
Division action resumes at 6 p.m. Tuesday with Rotary at Elba, Medina at Carlton and Sandstone at St. Mary’s/Barre. Then on Thursday it will be St. Mary’s/ Barre vs. Rotary at the Midget League field, Carlton at Sandstone and Medina at Elba.
