Medina cagers to face key test at Akron

Fresh from clearing one big hurdle, Medina faces another key Niagara-Orleans League challenge as Mustangs visit Akron at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Medina, which nipped rival Albion 60-59 on Friday with a last minute rally, is now at 4-1 in N-O competition while Akron, which is looking to rebound from a loss to CSAT, is at 3-1. Wilson, which is now in sole possession of first place at 4-0, will visit Roy-Hart on Tuesday.

Boys basketball action for the week will get underway on Monday as Kendall faces North Rose-Wolcott at 11:15 a.m. at Monroe County Community College as part of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Classic.

The week’s girls basketball action will include Lyndonville at Holley and Kendall at Notre Dame on Tuesday in Genesee Region League contests.

First place in the N-O girls basketball league will be on the line Friday when defending champion Wilson (4-0) faces rival Newfane (5-0).

On the wrestling mat, Lyndonville will host Alexander at 6 p.m Tuesday in a key G-R League battle for first place.

In N-O swim action, Roy-Hart will host Newfane in a key meet on Wednesday. The defending champion Newfane girls squad is 6-0 and Roy-Hart is 5-1.
