Medina cagers romp past Akron

Steadily pulling away, Medina romped to a 63-33 victory over visiting Akron this afternoon in a makeup game to improve to 10-0 and maintain a two game lead in the Niagara-Orleans League title race.

Jalin Cooper scored 18, Justin Morgan 14 and Tyler Ames 13 to lead the balanced attack for Medina as Daryl Haynes added 9, Dylan Lewis 3 and Mason Lewis, Brad McPherson and Tyrellis Atkins 2 each.

Gates Abrams took game high scoring honors with 23 for Akron which drops to 0-10.

Leading by a narrow 6-4 margin, Medina began to pull away by closing the opening quarter with a 14-5 run.

Back-to-back threes by Morgan and Dylan Lewis ignited that uprising. Ames followed up with three straight baskets on two layups and a rebound bucket as he Mustangs opened up a 20-9 lead.

Keeping the momentum, the Mustangs opened the second quarter with a 13-4 run to stretch the advantage to 20 at 33-13.

Haynes tallied 7 on a 3, a layup off a steal and a layup, and Cooper 6, on two rebound baskets and a jumper off a turnover, during that run as the Mustnags went on to hold a 21 point, 39-18, advantage at the half.

The Mustangs stretched the lead to 31, 57-26, at the three-quarter mark as Cooper and Morgan both scored 6 and Ames 4 in the third period.

Medina next visits Wilson on Tuesday.

CSAT 56, Albion 47

Snapping a four game losing streak, CSAT downed visiting Albion 56-47 this afternoon in another N-O League make-up contest.

Shaun Wilson took game high scoring honors with 21 for CSAT which held leads of 15-7 after one quarter, 26-22 at the half and 43-36 at the three-quarter mark.

Tommy Mattison scored 14 and Jacob Buzard 10 for Albion as Kory Reynolds added 7 and Brady Meakin and Tyler Rotoli 5 each.

CSAT is now 3-7 and Albion 4-6 in N-O competition.

Notre Dame 76, Kendall 56

Jumping out to a 21-13 first quarter lead, Notre Dame went on to defeat visiting Kendall 76-56 this afternoon in a Genesee Region League game.

Luca Zambito scored 25 and Tyler Prospero 15 to set the pace for Notre Dame.

Colton Breslawski scored 15, Jacob Ramsdell and Brandon Miller 10 and John Rath and Nathan Warters 8 for Kendall.

Attica 77, Holley 44

Roaring out to a 44-15 half-time advantage, Attica went on tot defeat visiting Holley 77-44 this afternoon in a G-R contest.

Colden George poured in a game high 33 points and Owen Thompson added 17 to lead the way for Attica.

Nick Passarell led Holley with 19 as Zach Vacarrelli added 8 and Isiah Flow 6.
