Medina boys score N-O cross-country sweep

Remaining undefeated host Medina downed both Barker (22-33) and Roy-Hart (19-41) this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League cross-country meet.

Medina improves to 4-0 while Barker is 3-2 and Roy-Hart 0-5. Barker also downed Roy-Hart 20-41.

Newfane stayed even with Medina at 4-0 by defeating both Akron 18-45 and Wilson 15-50. Akron also downed Wilson 19-37.

Medina will next face Newfane on Saturday in a tri-meet at Albion at 11 a.m.

Medina’s Cameron Castanon won the race. A trio of his Mustangs teammates – Arian Cayea, Gabe Mark and Alwyn Cayea –  finished 3-5-6 respectively.

Roy-Hart’s Jay Heideman finished second and Barker’s Mason Allee-Castro fourth.

In the girls race, Barker took the first four finishing spots to defeat both Medina and Roy-Hart by the identical score of 17-38. Medina also downed Roy-Hart 24-31.

Barker is now 3-2, Medina 2-2 and Roy-Hart 0-5.

Carla Stoloski finished first to lead the quartet of Barker finishers as Lydia Samson took second, Mikala Woock third and Ellie Voss fourth.

Medina’s Faith Baker-Austin finished fifth.

In the other girls tri meet undefeated Newfane (4-0) downed Akron 19-40 and Wilson 15-50. Akron also defeated Wilson 23-32 to improve to 3-1.

At the outset of the boys’ race Roy-Hart’s Jay Heideman has the lead followed by Medina’s Cameron Castanon and Barker’s Mason Allee-Castro.

Heading out the starting line in the girls’ race Medina’s Lena Aldroobe has the lead followed by her teammates Emma Schwarzott and Faith Baker-Austin.
