Medina boys score N-O cross-country sweep

Improving to 2-1 Medina scored a home course sweep in a Niagara-Orleans League boys cross-country meet this afternoon. The Mustangs defeated Akron 25-31 and Albion 15-46. Akron also downed Albion 15-46.

Medina was led by the 2-3-4 finish of Jack Cecchini, Ryder Jones and David Vanderwalker.

Akron’s Dawson Jones was the race winner.

In the girls meet, Akron stayed unbeaten at 3-0 by downing Medina 19-42 and Albion 17-36. Medina gained a split on the day by besting Albion 21-34.

Akron was sparked by the 1-2-3 finish of Kaila Szczygielski, Kristine Wall and Emma Marie Forestell.

Medina had Ariel Smith place fourth and Madeline Mark sixth while Albion’s Gina Sidari was fifth.

The Barker boys improved to 2-0 with a 15-46 in over Newfane led by the 1-2-3 finish of Mason Allee Castro, Noah Sandolfini and Dawson Donovan.

The Newfane girls downed Barker 19-40 to go to 3-0 as Kylie Bowman finished first.

The Wilson boys downed Roy-Hart 18-37 led by the 1-2 finish of Jaydan Ruble and Joey-Dane Jones. Roy-Hart’s Calvin Fournier placed third.

The Roy-Hart girls nipped Wilson 27-28 sparked by the 3-4-5 finish of Lily Stanczyk, Marissa Bryant and Samantha Silsby. Wilson’s Ella Ingwerson won the race.
