Medina booters get back on winning track

Photo by Cheryl Wertman – Greg Husung had a goal and an assist for Medina in Sunday’s 4-1 soccer win against the host Moby Ducks.

Rebounding from their first loss of the season, Medina defeated the host Moby Ducks 4-1 Sunday to maintain a hold of second place in the Buffalo District Soccer League 3rd Division standings.

Bouncing back from a 2-0 loss to LaSalle, Medina improves to 7-1-1 with the victory and stays within a game of front-running 8-1 Tesla FC.  Medina will host Tesla in a key regular season ending contest on on July 22 at 6:30 p.m. at Vets Park.

Breaking away from a 1-1 deadlock, Medina scored three unanswered second half goals as Barry Rogenmoser tallied on a header off a cross from Drew McMurray, Greg Husung off an assist from Jessie Fergen and Brian Anderson from Husung.

Fergen netted Medina’s lone first half goal off an assist from Trenton Jones.

The loss drops fifth place Moby Ducks to  5-3-1.

Rogenmoser now has 6 goals and 3 assists on the season, Brian Anderson 5 goals and 1 assists, Husung 4 goals and 4 assists and Fergen 2 goals and 4 assists.

Steven Anderson and Kristian Snyder also each have 5 goals on the season for Medina.
