Medina blanks Newfane in N-O field hockey

A pair of early goals proved to be enough to earn Medina a 2-0 victory over Newfane in a Niagara-Orleans League field hockey game this afternoon at Vets Park.

Libby Cook scored what proved to be the game winner for Medina just five minutes in off an assist from Grace Flores.

Lydia Battaglia then added an insurance tally for the Mustangs 17 minutes into the half.

The Mustangs improve to 3-4 while the Lady Panthers slip to 0-7.

Roy-Hart 3, Kenmore 0
Samantha Choate scored two goals and Danielle Kozma one for Roy-Hart which led 1-0 at the half.

Jamie Bower earned the shutout in goal for the Lady Rams.

Roy-Hart is now 5-2 and Kenmore 1-6.

Barker 5, Sacred Heart 2

Barker bested Sacred Heart 5-2 in a non league game.

Breaking away from a 2-2 deadlock, Barker took the lead for good on a goal by Ciara Gregoire with just 36 seconds to go in the first half.

Gregoire and Rachel Hurtgam then netted goals in the second half to lock up the win for the Lady Raiders.

Hurtgam and Katrina Clare scored Barker’s first two goals of the day.

Akron 7, Wilson 1

Abby Stone scored 5 goals while Rebecca Breymeier and Alexis Bell each added 1 to lead undefeated (7-0) front-running Akron to a 7-1 win over Wilson (3-4).

Madeline Mocarski scored Wilson’s goal.
