Medina Black wins U12 diamond playoff title
A trio of pitchers combined to hurl a shutout as the Medina Black team blanked Medina Red 3-0 last week to capture the LOYAL baseball 12U Division playoff championship.
Briley Allen, Alex Seefeldt and Carlos Doval combined to pitch a one hit shutout.
Medina Black scored the only two runs it needed in the first inning on hits by Nick Wetherbee and Seefeldt. Wetherbee later drove in an insurance run in the third inning.
Medina Black advanced to the title contest by downing the Roy-Hart Yankees 6-2 in the semifinals
The first inning again proved to be decisive as hits by Wetherbee, Seefeldt and Joe Reese helped to plate a total of four runs.
Medna Black’s biggest scare in the playoffs came in the opening round as they had to rally from a 3-1 deficit to score three times in the sixth inning to nip the Somerset Blue Jays 4-3.
Doval hit walk off two-run double to cap off the decisive sixth inning rally.
