Medina bests Roy-Hart 2 in Midget B League season opener

A pair of four run innings keyed host Medina to a 10-4 victory over Roy-Hart 2 this evening in the Lockport Midget B League season opener.

Roy-Hart 2 did jump out to a quick 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning on hits by Al Xapsos, Brendon Hess, Eric Fitch, Jacob Bruning and Nick Kubas.

However, Medina answered right back with four runs in the home half of the first, highlighted by a three-run triple by Ted Howard and an RBI single by Gage Grabowski, to take the lead for good.

Medina later added four runs in an error and walk aided fourth inning as Justin Morgan had the only hit.

Hunter Sturtevant later singled and scored for Medina in the sixth inning.

Tyler Ames went the distance on the mound for Medina registering four strikeouts.

Medina’s Midget A team opens its season at home at 6 p.m. Tuesday against Roy-Hart.

Roy-Hart 1 5, Somerset 4

Roy-Hart 1 nipped Somerset 5-4 in another Midget B opener by scoring a run in the seventh inning.

Colton Bohall reached on a walk, stole second and came home with the winning run on an error for Roy-Hart 1.

Roy-Hart 1 had tied the game at 4-4 by scoring three times in the sixth on a two-run single by winning pitcher Joe Nolan and an RBI single by Aaron Metz.

Metz also had an RBI double in the fourth.

Nolan pitched the final two innings.
