Medina bests Albion in youth football

Medina took three out of four games from Albion in Niagara Orleans Football Association (NOFA) competition at Vets Park on Saturday winning the Beginners Division 31-0, the JV Division 42-0 and the Varsity Division 30-0. Albion took the Mini Division contest 24-0.

Beginners Division
Medina 31, Albion 0
The Medina Ponys closed out the season at 6-3  as the defense shut down the Eagles while the offense spreads it around with touchdowns from 4 different players.  Liam McKenna opened the scoring with a 2 yard TD plunge.  Javeon Wills took over from there with a second quarter 73 yard TD run and then a third quarter 85 yard TD run to break the game open. Marcel Lamar scored on a 3 yard TD run and then Aurelius Schalk got the final score with an 84 yard TD run.

For Albion, which finishes at 4-5, Jayden Rivera had 60 yards rushing and Matthew Schomske had 38.  On Defense, Landyn Galligan 8 tackles,  Rivera 6 and Brycen Potter a sack.

Mini Division
Albion 24, Medina 0
Rocco Sidari took the open play 60 yards for a TD and Albion never looked back.  Sidari finished with 5 carries for 81 yards and 3 TDs. Garrett Jones had 17 carries for 135 yards,  Boe Preston 27 yards and Jonah Elsenheimer had a 2 yard TD run.

Luke Beford had 2 Interceptions for the Albion defense that has yet to allow any points up this year.  Jack Conn had 7 tackles and 2 sacks,  Preston 8 tackles and Stryker Sanders had 2 sacks.

Albion finishes 8-1 and will play Newfane at 11 Saturday in Batavia.  Medina finishes 5-4.

JV Division
Medina 42, Albion 0
This one was all Broncos right from the opening whistle as the offense scored 7 touchdowns from all over the team.  The game opened with a 38 yard TD run from Avion Johnson, followed by a 15 yard TD run from Preston Woodworth.

The defense got an interception from Hadrian Batista and then a fumble recovery from Ben Doolan before Christian Moss ran 2 yards for an 18-0 lead.  Another fumble recovery from Colton Fletcher got the ball back again and Moss went 5 yards this time to pay dirt.

Elijah Doxey took it 40 yards to make the score 30-0 and then Doxey picked off a pass and the Broncos were again in business. Preston Woodworth hit Moss for a 19 yard TD reception and then Moss did it on defense with a fumble recovery, the third of the day for the defense.  The final score came on a pick 6 from Trevon Shine to make it 42-0 and seal the Broncos as the #1 seed and set them up with date next weekend with the Holley Hawks in the first round of the playoffs.

For Albion, Wesley Olles led the defense 10 tackles,  Noah Harrison 9 tackles,  Nate Gibson and Mason Snook 5 each. Jayovanni Ostrander had a interception.

Varsity Division
Medina 30, Albion 0
The Medina Stallions completed a 9-0 regular season and earned the No. 1 seed for the playoffs by shutting out Albion.

The scoring opened with the defense as Amari Soule picked off a pass and ran it back for a long TD and Cole Callard added the extra point kick.  The defense shut down the Purple Eagles on the next drive and this time Kaiden Cleveland found Soule for a long TD reception and again Callard makes the kick and it is now 14-0.

Dawson Carpenter then ran about 30 yards down to the 2 yard line and then on the next play banged it in and after a bad snap on the extra point Justin Pitts pulls the ball in and runs around for the 21-0 lead.

The Stallions later got  a safety by George Brown and Soule finished up the scoring with his third TD of the game on another pick 6.

The Stallions will open the playoffs against  Tri Town next week in Batavia.

For Albion on offense Makyell Walker had 40 yards rushing and Kwame Riley 23 yards receiving from Raekwan Riley. Defensively Walker and Raekwan had 4 tackles,  Jared Ostrander and Rylissa Lesczinski each had 3.

Albion finishes at 2-7.
