Medina bests Akron in Midget ‘A’
Snapping a two game losing streak, Medina downed Akron 6-1 this evening in a Lockport Midget ‘A’ League game at Vets Park.
Adam Hoot picked up the win on the mound allowing just one hit and striking out 10 over the first six innings.
Medina scored a quick run in the first inning on a single by Jason Hellwig and upped the advantage to 4-0 with three tallies in the third. Three walks set up that uprising which featured a two-run triple by Matt Riemer and an RBI single by Brett Riemer.
Hoot then helped himself at the plate by banging out a two run double in the fourth inning. A single by Jake Cotriss and an error set up that threat.
Cotriss and Brett Riemer both finished with two hits and Jared Zinkievich had a triple for Medina which improves to 4-3.
Lockport 2 8, Lyndonville 6
Trailing 6-3, Lockport 2 used an error aided five run sixth inning scoring burst to defeat front-running Lyndonville 8-6.
Lyndonville had built up the 6-3 lead by scoring once in the second inning on singles by Chris Scroger and Aaron Burnside; three times in the third on three walks, a hit batsman and singles by Trevor Bentley, Dominic DiCureia and Michael Wells and twice in the fifth as Eddy Schildt had an RBI single.
DiCureia and Wells both had two hits on the night.
The loss drops Lyndonville to 5-2.
Lockport 1 14, Roy-Hart 4
Breaking away from a 4-4 deadlock, Lockport 1 erupted for 10 runs in the seventh inning to earn a 14-4 victory over host Roy-Hart.
John O’Brien had a two run single and Brad Wilson a pair of hits for Roy-Hart which slips to 3-4.
