Yankees 7, Reds 6

The Medina Teachers’ Association Yankees evened their record at 2 and 2 with an 7-6 extra inning win against the Roy-Hart Reds.

The Reds jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning but the Yankees quickly answered with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning.  Austin Mosher lead off with a single, followed by a Brian Fry double and a Nate Sherman single.  All three scored as Jarin Rhim added a double and Benny Beam also drew a walk.

The Reds tied the game in the top of the second on a walk and a single despite Rhim picking up three strike outs for the Yankees in the inning.  The Reds took the lead in the top of the third on a walk, a triple and two more walks.  Beam came on to shut down the rally with three strike outs for the Yankees.

The Yankees responded with three more runs to take the lead 6-4 in the bottom of the third.  Mosher and Fry each doubled followed by a Sherman single and a “Seabass” Fisher walk.  The Yankees were then held scoreless until extra innings.

The Reds continued to chip away at the Yankee lead scoring one in the fourth and one in the fifth to tie the game 6-6.  Fry came on in the sixth inning to shut down the rally.  Fry also held the Reds scoreless in the top of the seventh inning recording five strike outs in those two innings.

The Yankees brought home the win in the bottom of the seventh with a Rhim single, a walk to Beam and a passed ball.
