Medina, Barker and Akron score shutout victories in N-O field hockey

Scoring two quick goals in the first four minutes, Medina went on to defeat Newfane 5-0 this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League field hockey game at Vets Park.

In the other N-O games, defending champion Barker (2-0) shutout Wilson (1-2) 7-0 and Akron (3-0) blanked Kenmore (0-3) 10-0.

Lacey Kenward scored just 43 seconds in to give Medina the lightning quick lead.

Grace Cook followed up with a goal just three minutes later to double the Mustangs advantage.

Layna Viloria extended the Mustangs advantage to 3-0 by scoring with six minutes to go in the opening half.

Second half goals by Mary Flores and Kenward rounded out the scoring for Medina which improves to 1-2.

The loss drops Newfane to 0-2.

Barker 7, Wilson 0
Barker jumped out to a 4-0 first half lead on two goals by Ciara Gregoire and one each by Emily Wagner and Rachel Hurtgam,

Virginia Alexander then scored two goals and Katrina Clare one in the second half for the Raiders.

Akron 10, Kenmore 0

Oliva McClaine and Sophia Jones both scored 3 goals to lead the way for Akron as Lacey Berghorn, Jenelle  Kieffer, Jordan Nadler and Morgan Geake each chipped in with 1.

The Lady Tigers led 6-0 at the half.
