Medina and R-H battle to tie in field hockey

Medina and Roy-Hart battled to a 1-1 tie this evening at Vets Park in a Niagara-Orleans League field hockey game that went to a shootout.

The contest was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation play as both of those goals came late in the third quarter.

Roy-Hart grabbed a 1-0 lead when Claire Halstead scored off an assist from Miah Glena with 2:55 to go in the third quarter.

Medina answered right back though as Alex Strong netted the equalizer with just 54 seconds to go in the period.

Neither team could score in the fourth quarter or in the 10 minute 7 on 7 overtime period.

That set the stage for the shootout in which each team score once to end the contest n a tie.

Amanda Hill scored for Roy-Hart and Hannah Kenward for Medina in the shootout.

Both goalies, Medina’s Arianna Bloom and Roy-Hart’s Lorna Becker, made key saves in the shootout. Click here to view the shootout.

Barker 6, Newfane 0

Six different players contributed goals as Barker blanked Newfane 6-0 to improve to 5-1.

Mia Herman, Lena Fazzolari, Mackenzie Dodge, Ella Gooding, Rachel Sutter and Madison Gancasz took turns scoring the goals for the Lady Raiders.

Akron 4, Kenmore 0

Front-running Akron remained undefeated at 7-0 with a 4-0 victory over Kenmore.

Sophia Jones, Lacey Berghorn, Lydia Blueye and Olivia McClaine each scored a goal for the Lady Tigers.
