Medina and Lyndonville have winners at Byron-Bergen wrestling tournament

Medina and Lyndonville both had individual weight class winners at the annual Byron-Bergen Wrestling Tournament today.

Medina’s Sawyer Kingsbury took first place at 215 and Lyndonville’s Sam Doolan won at 285. Kingsbury scored a first period pin in his title match and Doolan won by a 2-1 margin.

Medina also had Reece Senske place third at 110.

Lyndonville also had Sebastian Temich (160) and Christian Garver (118) both place third and Payton Grabowski (189) fourth. Garver outlasted Bruce Rasmusson of Holley-Kendall 3-2 in double overtime to take third place honors.

Medina also had a pair of winners in the JV Tournament in Luke Duffina (110) and Austin Seefeldt (152).

Boys Basketball

Westfield 51, Roy-Hart 50

A free throw with three seconds to go earned Westfield a narrow 51-50 win over Roy-Hart in the consolation game of the Olean Tournament this afternoon.

Rem Albee scored 20 and Jamel Johnson Jr. 18 for Roy-Hart which led 29-24 at the half. Johnson was named to the All Tournament team.

Bennett 83, Lyndonville 60

Jumping out to a 15-2 lead at the outset, Bennett went on to defeat Lyndonville 83-60 this evening in the consolation game of the Newfane Tournament.

Trenton Muck scored 13, Mason Nicholson 12, Ian Mank 10 and Jimmy Poler 8 for Lyndonville which next hosts Notre Dame in the Genesee Region League opener at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
