Medina and Barker split in N-O track meet; Roy-Hart likewise splits with Akron

Medina and Roy-Hart both earned splits in Niagara-Orleans League track competition this afternoon.

Medina split with visiting Barker. The Mustangs scored a slender 71-66 win the girls’ meet while the Raiders took the boys’ meet by a narrow 72-69 margin.

The Medina girls were led by a trio of individual event double winners as Emi Batista took the High Jump and 400, Ellie Roath the 100 Hurdles and 200 and Lydia Fox the Triple Jump and Long Jump.

In the boys’ meet Barker’s Mason Allee Castro was a triple winner in the 800, 1600 and 3200 while Medina’s Bryson Costich doubled in the 100 and Long Jump.

Roy-Hart likewise split with Akron. The Rams won the boys’ meet 11o-30 as Jayden Swygert was a triple winner in the 100, Long Jump and Triple Jump. The Rams also had Landon Guild double in the High Jump and 200 and Rowan Klug double in the 400 and 800.

Akron won the girls’ meet 80-61 to complete a perfect 6-0 N-O championship season.

Sophia Jones doubled in the 100 and 200 and Madigan Regan in the 800 and 1500 for the Lady Tigers.

Nadia White was a triple winner for Roy-Hart in the 400, Long Jump and Triple Jump and Julia Miles doubled in the 400 Hurdles and High Jump.

Both Roy-Hart teams are now 3-2 heading into Monday’s regular season ending home meet against Medina.

N-O Tennis Doubles Tournament
Newfane’s team of Luke Gunby and Miles Czekaj defeated the Barker duo of Daniel Goodwin and Lucas DerSarkissian 6-2, 6-2 today in the finals of the N-O League doubles tournament.

In the semifinals, Barker rallied to defeat Albion’s duo of Aiden Miller and Mark Ames 6-7, 6-3, 6-4 and Newfane bested Akron.

Akron downed Albion in the match for third place.
