Medina and Akron post N-O road wins
A fast start and a strong finish earned Medina a 75-53 win over host Barker in a Niagara-Orleans League boys basketball game this evening.
Medina jumped out to a 24-17 first quarter lead and later closed out the win with a big 23-7 fourth period scoring edge. Barker had closed to within six, 52-46, at the end of the third period.
Jerrell Nealy scored 30 and Christian Moss 23 to lead the Medina offense as Preston Woodworth added 14, Cole Callard 4, Jimmy Dieter 3 and Jayzon Wills 1. Moss and Woodworth both scored 5 to key a 12-2 scoring burst to open the final period which helped to lock up the victory for the Mustangs.
Anthony Taliaferro scored 17, Logan Murrell 12, Owen Harris 10, Isaac Monaco 9 and Wyatt Sherman 5 for Barker.
Medina is now 6-5 and Barker 2-9 in N-O action.
Akron 53, Newfane 37
Akron completed a near perfect 11-1 N-O title season by downing host Newfane 53-37.
Syras Jonathan scored 14, Ben and Blake Gerstung 9 each, Derren Brooks and Brayden Lamont 8 each and Brodie Hill 5 for the Tigers.
