Medina/Lyndonville, Albion split in track

Raiders sweep Rams

Both teams emerged with a victory as Medina/Lyndonville hosted rival Albion this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League track meet.

Medina/Lyndonville won the boys meet 87-36 and Albion took the girls competition 74-49.

Forest Harper was a triple winner for the Medina/Lyndonville boys in the 100 (:11.1), 200 (:23.3) and high jump (5-4).

The Mustangs also had a trio of individual event double winners as Derek Donley won the 110 hurdles (:16.9) and 400 hurdles (1:05.8), Dalton Cerbone the 1600 (5:01.3) and 3200 (10:58) and Matt Cochrane the 400 (:57.1) and triple jump (39-11.75) while Anthony Pane added a win in the 800 (2:12.1).

The Mustangs also swept the three relays with Harper, Cochrane, Barry Rogenmoser and Scott Barber in the 400 (:49.5); Cochrane, Austin Heil, Patrick Roberts and Sam Simms in the 1600 (3:50) and Pane, Cerbone, Roberts and Heil in the 3200 (9:07.9).

Albion had Justyn Haines win the pole vault (12-0) and Jordan Jacobs the long jump.

Medina/Lyndonville is now 3-1 and Albion 2-2.

In the girls meet Albion was sparked by a trio of double winners as Abby Squicciarini took the 100 (:12.2) and 200 (:26.5); Chanyce Powell the long jump (16-4) and triple jump (35-2.25) and Mahogany Taylor the 100 hurdles (:17.4) and high jump (4-8).

Medina/Lyndonville got double win efforts from Holly Heil in the 400 (1:03.8) and 800 (2:39.5) and Martha Gardner in the 1500 (5:23.4) and 3000 (11:49).
Karisa Stark took the pole vault (7-9) for Albion and Chelsea Donley the 400 hurdles (1:25) for Medina/Lyndonville.

Albion captured the 400 relay in :52.1 with the foursome of Squicciarini, Powell, Kayla Doyle and Mariah Elsenheimer.

Medina/Lyndonville took both the 1600 relay with Morgan Roach, Madeline Winters, Gardner and Heil in 4:38.6 and the 3200 relay with Gardner, Elizabeth Newman, Kyla Leno and Heil in 10:48.8.

Albion is now 3-1 and Medina/Lyndonville 1-2.

Barker 97, Roy-Hart 39 (Boys)
Defending champion Barker stayed perfect at 3-0 by downing visiting Roy-Hart (0-3) 97-39 in an N-O boys meet.

Jacob Haight was a quadruple winner for Barker in the 100 (:11.4), long jump (20-10), high jump (6-6) and triple jump (42-0).

The Raiders also had Kirk Fay double in the shot-put (38-6) and discus (116-1) and Sergio Cruz double in the 1600 (4:53.6) and 3200 (11:15.3).

Barker’s other winners included Tom Callaghan in the 400 hurdles (1:07.5), Chris Sweeney in the 800 (2:18.8), Kolbe Greenwald in the 200 (:24.6) and Hayden Hathaway in the pole vault (10-0).

Roy-Hart had Kyle Shanahan win the 110 hurdles (:16.3) and Ben Werth the 400 (:55.8).

Barker 116, Roy-Hart 19 (Girls)
Gabby Clare tripled in the 100 hurdles (:17.5), 400 hurdles (1:10.3) and high jump (4-6) to lead the Barker girls past Roy-Hart 116-19.

The Lady Raiders also had four double winners including Caitlyn Mason in the long jump (16-2) and triple jump (34-9), Kelsi Flegal in the 100 (:12.8) and 200 (:26.9), Melissa Pestinger in the 1500 (5:49.8) and 3000 (12:45.3) and Allison Austin in the shot-put (29-4) and discus (79-11).

Barker’s other individual winners included Hayley Richbart in the 400 (1:06.1), Lydia Dewart in the 800 (2:38.2) and Erin Greenwald in the pole vault (7-6).

Barker is now 1-1 and Roy-Hart 0-3.
