Medina, Albion netters post shutouts

Two-time defending champion Medina stayed unbeaten at 9-0 by blanking visiting Barker 5.5-0 this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League tennis match.

Albion likewise posted a 5.5-0 shutout victory over host Roy-Hart to improve to 7-4.

In a Genesee Region League match, Kendall nipped Elba 3-2.

Straight set wins in singles competition by Ben Howell 6-2, 6-3 over Sean Benoit, Kristian Snyder 6-1, 6-1 over Tristan Payne and Nate Pace 6-0, 6-0 over Emma Duffy led the way for Medina.

The Mustangs also swept the three doubles matches as Brian Bogan and Tristan Sanders defeated Brian Hefferon and Erik Herian 7-6, 6-2; Chris Keller and Carson Zygoda outlasted Kyle Herian and Zach Pisarski 3-6, 6-1, 6-2; Tom Horgan and Austin Owens bested Luz Bautista and Paige Fudella 6-2, 6-3.

The loss drops Barker to 5-5.

Setting the pace for Albion were singles victories by Andrew Burroughs 6-2, 6-0 over Adam Clause, Dyer Benjovsky 6-0, 6-0 over William Johnson and Josh Metzler 6-2, 6-0 over David Turrel.

Scoring wins in doubles competition for the Purple Eagles were the duos of Ben Kirby- Chris Tabor 6-1, 6-0 over Jarod Shepard-Mitchel Light, Michael Stilwell-Monica Benjovsky 6-4, 7-6 over Melanie Mikits-Quinn Moreland and Cristal Quintana-Dan Beam 6-2, 6-1 over Victoria Benner-Kelsey Eldridge.

Notre Dame 231, Kendall 237
Undefeated (10-0) Notre Dame edged past Kendall (4-4) 231-237 this afternoon in a Genesee Region League golf match at Hicklory Ridge.

Kendall’s Evan Gaesser took medalist honors with a round of 34.
