Medina, Albion netters post shutout wins
Medina and Albion both posted shutout victories this afternoon in Niagara-Orleans League tennis action.
Front-running Medina improved to 7-0 by blanking Newfane (0-7) 5 1/2-0 and Albion regained the .500 mark at 3-3 by shutting out Barker (1-5) 5 1/2-0.
In singles action for Medina, Kristian Snyder defeated Zach Lundy 6-0, 6-1; Mike Cardone downed Michelle Schultz 6-1, 6-0 and Nick Bogan blanked Jayden Heers 6-0, 6-0.
The Mustangs also got straight set wins from the doubles teams of Kyla Leno-Andrew Fuller, 6-2, 6-1 over Madeline Travers-Kaitlin Beiter; Toby Kiebala-Ray Paull, 6-0, 6-0 over Erin Harrington-Marlee Passuite and Able Zavitz-Brandon Harris, 6-0, 6-0 over Lila Maurer-Marcy White.
In the singles matches for Albion, Matt Kovaleski defeated Nick Fazzolari 6-2, 6-1; Connor McQuillan downed Jake Meister 6-1, 6-2 and Donato Rosario bested Christian Young 6-1, 6-2.
Scoring doubles wins for the Purple Eagles were the duos of Owen Foos-Emilie Barleben, 6-2, 6-3 over Nick Sutch-Jake Harris; Victor Benjovsky-Feeman Lattin, 6-0, 6-1 over Mia Gooding-Grace Harris and Kastriot Bella-Juan Santigao, 6-1, 6-2 over Marisa Jowdy-Natalie Bruning.
In other N-O action, Akron (7-1) swept a doubleheader from Roy-Hart (2-5) by the identical score of 5 1/2-0. Nate Chubb won twice at first singles and Jacob Meyer twice at second singles for the Tigers.
Attica 4, Holley 1
The second doubles team of Dalton Thurley and Steve Morgan earned Holley’s only point in the Hawks 4-1 Genesee Region League loss to Attica.
In another G-R match, Wheatland-Chili blanked Kendall 5-0.

The Medina boys completed a 71-70 N-O win over Wilson this afternoon as Jalin Cooper won the High Jump and Connor Miller the Pole Vault. Bad weather last week forced several of the events to be suspended until today.
