Medina, Albion net road victories

Going to 6-0, defending champion Medina downed host Newfane 4 1/2-1 this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League tennis match.

Medina swept the three singles matches on straight set wins by Kristian Snyder, Tristan Sanders and Brian Bogan.

The Mustangs also got wins from the duo of Nick Dieter and Mike Cardone at first doubles and by the team of Tom Horgan and Austin Owens at third doubles.

Albion 4 1/2, Wilson 1
Going to 5-1 on the season, Albion bested host Wilson 4 12-1.

Three set victories at second singles by Josh Metzler, 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 over Gabriel Curcione, and at third singles by Dan Beam, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 over Alex Keil, highlighted the win for Albion.

The Purple Eagles also swept the three doubles matches. Kyler McQuillan and Monica Benjovsky defeated Joe Hecko and Kallie Olear 7-5, 6-3 at first doubles. Cristal Quintana and Michael Stiwell downed Kierson Skobjak and Mike Pazik 6-0, 6-2 at second doubles. Dylan Bader and Kellie O’Hearn bested Rebecca Connors and Allisa Smith 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 at third doubles.

Wilson took the first singles match as Dominic Curcione downed Dyer Benjovky 6-4, 6-4.

Albion splits in track

The Albion girls earned an 8-1-60 victory over host Wilson this afternoon in the conclusion of a Niagara-Orleans League track meet which was started last week.

The Purple Eagles took the two events which were not held last week because of windy conditions to claim the victory. Chanyce Powell won the high jump (4-6) and Karisa Stark took the pole vault (7-6).

In the boys meet, Wilson won the high jump and pole vault to complete a 78-63 win over Albion.
