A big early scoring inning combined with a strong pitching performance earned Medina a 9-1 victory over host CSAT this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League baseball game.

Mustang pitcher Matt Riemer stymied CSAT at the plate hurling a one hitter with 8 strikeouts and 2 walks.

The two walks, along with an error, gave CSAT a 1-0 first inning lead.

Medina though answered back with 4 runs in the third inning to take the lead for good. Izaiah Rhim and Jason Hellwig both banged out RBI singles in the decisive frame as fielders choice plays off the bats of Josh Scroger and Lawson Fenton plated the other two runs.

Rhim and Riemer both had two hits on the day.

Riemer and Kyle Herman later banged out back-to-back RBI singles in the fifth inning to up the Medina advantage to 6-1.

Rhim capped off the Mustangs victory with a three run double in the seventh inning. A single by Riemer, a hit batsman and a walk had loaded the bases to set up the opportunity.

Medina, which next hosts Barker on Friday, is now 2-0 in the league and 4-2 overall.

CSAT is now 1-1 in N-O action.
