Medina ‘9 posts shutout win at Barker

Front-running Medina rolled to an 11-0 victory over host Barker this afternoon to improve to 9-0 in Niagara-Orleans League baseball competition (14-1 overall).

The Mustangs scored the only run they needed as it turned out in the first inning on an RBI double by Preston Woodworth which followed a single by Vinny Gray.

The advantage quickly ballooned to 9-0 as the Mustangs scored 4 times in both the second and third innings.

The Mustangs scored in the second inning on a two-run single by winning pitcher Brody Fry, an RBI double by Gray and an error.

Gray and Fry also both had RBI singles in the third inning which also included run producing sacrifice flies by Hadrian Batista and Cam Fike.

Batista rounded out the Mustangs scoring parade with a two-run homer in the fourth frame.

Fry pitched the first four innings and allowed 2 hits and struck out 8. Gray came on to hurl the final frame of the five inning run rule contest and struck out 2 and allowed no hits.

The loss drops Barker to 3-6.

Medina next hosts Barker at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday at Vets Park.
