Medina 2 booters bow in finals
In a playoff full of upsets No. 3 seed Medina 2 dropped a 6-5 double overtime decision to No. 5 Reid’s Drive-In in the Lockport Indoor Soccer League championship game over the weekend at the Kenan Center.
Greg Husung scored 3 goals for Medina 2 as Bridget Keller and Chase Pecoraro each netted 1.
Medina 2 opened the playoffs by blanking Zimmi’s Auto Service 8-0 in the quarterfinals as Keviin Capstick earned the shutout in goal. Husung, Pecoraro and Zach Laird each had 2 goals as Colm Cooper and Capstick both added 1.
Upsets then ruled in the semifinals as Reid’s surprised top seeded Medina 1 4-1 and Medina 2 bested No. 2 seed Lockport Orthodontics 3-1.
Pecoraro scored 2 goals and Husung 1 for Medina 2 while Brian Anderson had the lone tally for Medina 1.
That set the stage for wild No. 5 vs. No. 3 final as Reid’s outlasted Medina 2 in double overtime.
