Medina 12U Fillies score playoff win

Jumping out to a big first inning lead, the Medina 12U Fillies went on to defeat the Cheekktowaga Crush 10-7 Tuesday in a Metro Girls Softball League playoff game at Butts Park.

The Fillies erupted for 5 quick runs in the inning as Lexi Hare, Brooklyn Brown, Camri King, Lacey Keneard and Chloe Stinson all scored.

Keeping the momentum, the Fillies quickly upped the advantage to 10-0 by tacking on 3 more runs in the second inning by Micaela Irway, Brown and King and 2 more in the third frame by Elle Gross and Tessa Boyce.

Cheektowaga rallied to score in each of the last four innings but could not overcome the early 10-0 deficit.

Lacey Kenward registered 7 strikeouts in the circle for the Fillies.

In the next tround of the playoffs the Fillies will host the Hamburg Extreme Orange at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
