Medina girls post win over Lyndonville
Steadily pulling away, Medina defeated host Lyndonville 62-39 this evening in a non league girls basketball game boosting the Mustangs record to 6-0.
Je’ne Brown poured in a game high 32 points and Maddie Williams tallied 19 to lead the way for Medina as Kayla Cuadra added 4, Molley Gross 3 and Faith Henning and Kharise Johnson 2 each. Brown also had 18 rebounds and 4 blocks and Williams 10 steals and 5 rebounds.
Aubrey Lewis led Lyndonville with 13 as Makenzie Muck added 9, Alecia Hinkson 6, Miranda Lembcke 4, Stacey Buckland 3 and Abi Rodriguez and Anna Lewis 2 each.
Leading all the way, Medina jumped out to a 13-6 first period lead as Brown had a pair of rebound baskets and a layup and Williams two threes.
A quick six point scoring burst by Brown at the outset of the second quarter on a layup off a steal, a rebound and another layup, ignited a 19-9 run which also included two layups off steals by Cuadra and a three by Williams as the Mustangs opened up a 17 point, 32-15, half-time advantage.
Medina upped the lead to 22, 48-26, at the three-quarter mark as Brown had three layups and a rebound bucket and Williams two more threes.
Medina next hosts Elba at 7 p.m. Thursday in another non legue contest.
Lyndonville, which is now 0-6, hosts Wheatland-Chili at 7 p.m. Wedensday in a Genesee Region League game.
