Maritime downs Mustangs to clinch title tie

Roaring out to a commanding 30-0 half-time advantage, WNY Maritime/Health Sciences went on to defeat Medina/Lyndonville/Barker 38-14 this evening at Vets Park to clinch at least a tie for the B2 Division title.

The Falcons used four rushing touchdowns, two by Maurice Vaughn on carries of 11 and 1 yards, one by John Washington on a 32 yard run and one by Mekhi Bridgers on a 2 yard run to build up the big half-time lead.

Medina’s two touchdowns came in the fourth quarter on runs of 10 and 3 yards by Brian Fry as Nate Sherman added both extra point kicks.  A 20 yard run by Bobby Geiger helped to up the first touchdown and a  big 43 yard run by Emmanuel Taylor down to the Maritime 3 set up the second TD.

Maritime improves to 3-0 in the division and 4-1 overall while the Mustangs finish B2 Division play at 1-3 and go to 1-4 overall. The Falcons can claim the B2 title outright with a win at Maryvale next Friday.

The Mustangs next visit Akron at 7 p.m. next Friday for an interdivisional game.

In a C North Division game tho evening Silver Creek (1-4) defeated visiting Roy-Hart (0-5) 56-0.

Newfane (4-0, 4-1) locked up the B4 Division title with a 26-7 win at Tonawanda as quarterback Garrett Srock threw touchdown passes of 65 andd 22 yards to Zach Snow and Jaden Heers added TD runs of 22 and 2 yards.
